Ways to book
- Request an appointment online
- Call us on 01228 588121
- Come into the surgery
The best way to contact the practice is via our online consultation service, however if you are unable to do this you can contact our reception team either in person or via telephone and they will submit the request on your behalf.
This means that all requests are dealt with in the same way and the relevant information is gathered to allow the GP to triage your request efficiently.
If your request is an administrative request such as fit notes or medication, you may be directed to other admin services within the practice such as the prescribing team or our secretaries.
Assessment and response
For any clincal requests the GP will assess and prioritise the requests based on the urgency of the medical needs. You will then be offered an appropriate response which could include:
- An appointment with a GP, advanced clinical practitioner, or a member of the wider practice team. This may be a face to face consultation or a telephone consultation.
- You may be directed to other services such as the pharmacy, district nurses, midwives or health visitors
All pathways are overseen and reviewed by your doctors.
This system ensures that your local GP practice can manage high demand by focusing on delivering the right care, at the right time, with the right person.
Long term condition appointments
If you have a long term or ongoing health condition you will be invited to attend the practice periodically for review. If you think you are due a review and have not yet been contacted, please contact us online and select on 'submit a review'. If you have several long term conditions we can synchronise your review appointments so that you make a minimum number of visits to the surgery.
We have a number of different clinical staff working together at the surgery including doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, specialist nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and health care assistants. Your care will be overseen by your named accountable GP.
There are a number of self-help options available (including self referral for a range of common conditions e.g physiotherapy, counselling, sexual health checks). These are described in more detail in the self help section of this website. If in doubt, contact us online for further information or speak to a member of our reception team.
Sickness certificates (fit notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home visits
We provide a home visiting service for people who are housebound as a result of frailty or illness. We would ask you to try and phone the surgery on 01228 588121 prior to 10.30am if you expect a home visit to be necessary to help us to plan the workload for the day. Visits are prioritised based on clinical need.
We would encourage everyone to try and attend one of our surgery sites when they need to access our services.
In addition, we work closely with our community and social care colleagues to help co-ordinate care for some of our most frail housebound population. This includes a large degree of planned and proactive care planning to try and support people to live well with their long term conditions/frailty and to help people to prepare for their future needs
