First Step is part of Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and provides free, talking therapies to adults (18+) in Cumbria. First Step can help with a range of common mental health problems including mild to moderate depression, anxiety disorders (such as chronic worry, panic attacks, health anxiety and obsessions), mild bulimia, anger or sleep problems.

SAFA

SAFA (the acronym for Self Harm Awareness for all) is committed to making a positive difference to the lives of individuals, in Cumbria, who self harm and to those who support them. Our primary goal is to empower individuals to take responsibility for their own lives and we do this through non-judgmental counselling and trusting support.

Here offers high quality, free or low-cost counselling and psychotherapy that adheres to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and UKCP guidelines. We offer 6 free sessions for those who find it difficult to access private therapy. Further ongoing sessions can be negotiated where we continue to provide inexpensive access to talking therapies.
